How to Use Afrotalk

If you're new to forums, don't worry — it's simple, clean, and designed for great conversations. Here's a quick guide to get you started:

🔏 1. Sign Up and Set Up Your Profile

Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner for Mobiles click ≡ in the top left and cick "Sign Up".
Choose a username, nickname, enter your email, and create a password.
Once logged in, click your avatar (top right) for Mobiles click ≡ and click your avata → Profile → then:
- Select an Avatar from the predifined avatar list for your profile picture
- Write a short bio
- Customize your settings and notifications

✨ Pro Tip: A profile pic and intro post help others connect with you faster!

🗂️ 2. Explore Discussions

The homepage shows the latest and most active conversations.
Use the tags/categories (like Culture, Entertainment, Tech, Lifestyle) to browse topics you're interested in.
Click on a post to read the full discussion, and scroll down to see replies.

📝 3. Join or Start a Conversation

To reply: Click into a discussion and type your reply in the editor at the bottom.
To post a new topic:
1. Click the “Start a Discussion” button (top right or side navigation).
2. Add a title, write your message, and choose the right tag/category.
3. Hit “Post Discussion” — and you’re live!

✨ Pro Tip: You can save your discussion and edit later on!

💬 4. Use Mentions and Formatting

Use @username to tag someone in a reply.
Format your text using simple Markdown:
- **bold** → bold
- _italic_ → italic
- Use > for quotes and backticks `code` for code.
Click on the ✒ icon to change between Markdown and Rich Text Editor

📩 5. Notifications and Private Messages

Click the bell icon in the top right or ≡ and select Notifications for mobiles, to manage notifications.
You’ll get updates when:
- Someone replies to your post
- You’re mentioned
- A thread you follow is updated
AfroTalk doesn’t support private messaging yet.

🚩 6. Be a Good Community Member

Follow the Community Guidelines.
If you see inappropriate content, click the flag icon to report it.
Use the “Like” button to show appreciation for helpful or thoughtful posts.
You can use Reactions to show reactions on posts.

📱 7. Use AfroTalk on Mobile

AfroTalk is fully mobile-responsive! You can:

Browse discussions
Reply to posts
Get notifications on the go
Just open AfroTalk.net in your phone’s browser and you’re good to go.
